We very rarely meet humble business owners. Especially business owners who truly know how to run a business and put other people; customers, employees and vendors before themselves. They have proven that this approach increases their bottom line tremendously. They spend very little on marketing, because they have learned that a rock solid core impacts their bottom line more than spending marketing dollars.
Your Core: Wow Your Customers. Transform Your Employees. Know Your Data. Close The Sale. Transform Your Company. These are the core strategies for business excellence.

When I became the director of a local non-profit organization over 26 years ago, I had a lot to learn about managing people. I was 31 years old and fairly naïve about the work world in general. However, one thing I do give myself credit for is having humility. This doesn’t mean I planned on letting people walk all over me, but instead that I would accept my limitations and understand and appreciate the value of my team members’ gifts and talents. I committed myself to helping create an environment where the employees could feel free to show their talents. I have to admit that this wasn’t always easy. On numerous occasions, I had to put my ego aside and admit that I couldn’t do it all by myself nor did I know it all. In the years since being involved with this organization, I find that it is important and necessary to continue to exercise humility, in all with interactions, both personal and professional.

Off-Duty Lawn Care took root when I started mowing lawns as a young teenager. I had many lawns in my neighborhood, and I wanted to please all my customers. After graduating college in 1991, I became a St. Louis County Police Officer. My wife and I began cutting lawns as a supplement to my police income. In 1994 we had 10 accounts and now in 2016 we have over 600 accounts cut by five lawn crews. This success is due to hiring amazing employees who are true leaders, making smart business choices as the business was growing, and reviewing the quality of work on a regular basis. It was a huge advantage being a police officer and patrolling in the neighborhoods that many of my accounts were in. Whenever I met a potential new customer they instantly felt trust with me and the company since the company was owned and operated by an “Off-Duty” police officer. I have obtained a large customer base of older customers due to our trustworthiness, quality of work, reliability, and fair prices.

As an insurance agent, I have had such great success based on many factors. Rates can be a huge contributing factor, as every person, family or business has different needs. Providing exceptional customer service by putting the customer first makes a huge difference, as well as my experience and knowledge about the products is a defining factor. Networking with others in my industry allows for a huge referral base. I refer a lot of clients to other agents, if they have a better product or price. I may lose business to another agent, but I always receive business in return–either from the agent referring business to me or even from the customer. Many customers are blown away that I offer a consultant type of approach over a sales approach. The main key to my retention is Lacey, our Officer Manager. Our existing customers stay because of her. New customers join us because of her knowledge, the relationships she forms, as well as her friendliness and concern for every customer we have. Customers love her.

Thank you for your order Nikki! Six beautiful words hand written. My son is an avid movie goer. So he ordered some movies online. He opens it up and immediately says, “wow that is written by hand”. There it is laying on top of the movies. In all its glory – a hand written thank you note. There was also a way to contact them if there are any issues. This speaks volumes that knock your socks off , blown out of the water customer service is lacking within businesses. For a young boy to be blown away and yes he was blown away (remember he said “wow”) is a shame, because it doesn’t take a lot to ‘wow’ people.
LIVE WELL was born with the desire to help others who face the challenging task of making the home environment safe for their disabled or aging loved ones. We understand that every situation is different. That’s why we partner with professional therapists and other healthcare providers to help people of all abilities live as independently as possible in their own home, where they prefer to be. We custom design our services to meet each person’s specific situation and present a professional assessment detailing our recommendations. LIVE WELL is CAPS Certified (Certified Aging-in-Place Specialists) so we can specialize in home modification solutions which allow people ease and comfort in remaining in their own homes. We knew that creating great partnerships and custom design services would be what it takes to truly make this concept a success.

I put existing clients before new clients. I believe the foundation of my business is the service I provide. I follow up. I stay in front of my customers so that they know I am thinking about them. At my agency we put existing clients before new clients every time and I want them to know they are important to me. I make calls, buy lunches, send gifts and everything in between so they know they are more than just an income. I take a lot of pride and honor in the fact that people place their trust in me to protect their most valuable assets. They trust me to be there if they have a bad day and that is something I take very seriously. Professionally thinking of others and helping others to improve their business on the networking side has helped me grow my business. I love being able to help others excel with their business. I am passionate about giving referrals because it helps their business and someone who has a need. The best compliment I can give and receive is a referral to help someone else. These are the principles my business is founded on.
